Greetings fellow Bizarros:
Did anybody read the story in the news where Bill Gates dis-
dains being the world’s richest man? How do you like that?
It just goes to prove that no matter who you are, what you
do, what kind of blessings you have, what kind of ridiculous,
unparalleled success you experience, anybody will find some-
thing to complain about.
In the article from ‘The Guardian’ online, Gates, worth an
estimated $50 billion, said about being the world’s richest
man, “I wish I wasn’t… There’s nothing good that comes
out of that.” His reason for this position was, “You get
more visibility as a result of it.”
I don’t mean to sound like a materialist, but I’ll take $50
billion for a little visibility.
It’s not even like Gates is a celebrity. If George Clooney
or Angelina Jolie were in line at the convenience store they
would immediately be mobbed by fans and autograph seekers.
Bill Gates could be sitting next to me in the restaurant at
lunch and I doubt I would even recognize him.
How would you like to take a year off, take your wife to
Europe, and travel around, learn languages, do a little art
shopping, motorcycle across Germany, hire a boat and learn
how to sail while going from Italy to Greece and then spend
a month or two drinking Uzo and fishing in the tropical
waters of the Mediterranean?
Bill Gates could. You or I couldn’t.
Or course, that kind of life may not be his obsession. Maybe
he’s happiest piloting an international, mutli-billion dollar
company and building an empire. And if he is, maybe he should
shut the hell up and quit complaining!
Bizarrely,
Lewis

HINGHAM, Mass. - Police Massachusetts said they arrested
a woman who attacked a store clerk with a Slim Jim meat
snack and a bottle of apple juice. Hingham police said the
woman, identified as Nancy Ward, 46, of Hingham, became
enraged Aug. 7 because a Cracker Barrel store did not have
an item she wanted and she believed she had been over-
charged by a clerk, The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, Mass.,
reported. The woman allegedly threw a bottle of apple
juice at the clerk, striking him in the head, and punched
him before throwing the Slim Jim snack at him. Then,
police said, she tore down the store’s flag and drove
away in a black Saab convertible. Police were alerted to
be on the lookout for the woman, and Ward was spotted the
next day playing music loudly and singing in her car. She
was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon, assault and battery, disorderly conduct
and malicious destruction of property.
