After a disappointing 1-2 week of competion last week we lost 2 very close matches, The Red Devils came out on all cylinders in week 9. Only 2 matches on tap this week, a TWL Hardcore Sabotage and a HQ match.
Tuesday March 11th. TWL Hardcore Sabotage
MoJo 4 - 0 DIE
The map was Vacant, a smallish office like map with some outside space as well. Always a tough map no matter what gametype it is. Comms we're great and the teamwork was back in top form in this match.
DIE proved early they had good players and almost had a win in round one but The Devils defused and went on to win round 1. It was 3-0 in favor of MoJo at the half. We then brought on 3 subs, which is very unusual for us. The first round of the second half was a long one where we had some troubles moving the bomb. We stayed with it, dwindled them down to nothing and got the plant and defended well for a 4 - 0 shutout on a very good DIE team.
Saturday March 15th. TWL Hardcore HQ
MoJo 645 - 350 Xtreme Soldiers
The map was convoy, a fairly big map with lots of good roofs to camp and places to hide. Practices were a struggle preparing for this one but when gametime came, the Red Devils came to play.
MoJo was Marines first and played one of the best HQ halves since our 1st HQ match on Bloc. Halftime was 450 - 55 in favor of the Red Devils. Then we got a little lazy! We let Xtreme get far too many HQ's with little effort and a whole lot of "rush first, think later" unlike our 1st half performance.
They got within 200 points or less at one point, the the Devils kicked it up a notch and finished strong bringing home a 645- 350 win. One of my best personal matches in a while...I actually had fun in this one. It was a great team effort all around. Comms were absolutely magnificant. Thanks to Yoda for his work making point names and getting us organized on this one!
In Conclusion
We played two great matches Devils. A shutout win in sabotage and a dominating performance in HQ. Even though we gave up some points in the second half, that first half was some good stuff. Our teamwork came back together and our comms, wow, they were great in both matches.
We continue to see a slow decrease in practice/pubbing attendance, something we need to work through as the spring/summer months approach. But I can seem to always count on you to kick it in gear when it matters.
Great week, but we have a tough HQ match on Monday and more sabotage I am sure next week...not to mention a SnD match for them boys on Wednesday. We also have Stompfest LAN in Indy in a few weeks too!!
