Week 2 of competitions was very good to the MoJo Red Devils. It saw us have a few team firsts. We played the first OGL CoD4 match and we got our first win in SnD finally!
At the start of the week I gave the team a goal. We had 4 matches on the calendar and my challenge to them was to go 3-1 for the week. Thats exactly what they did. Our record for week 2 was 3-1 and a forefeit win on top of that thanks to the SOB clan not accepting the challenge.
It was another busy, busy week for the team, but what we accomplished was really good.
Wednesday, Jan 23rd:
TGL 5v5 Search and Destroy match. We played CKA on mp_Showdown. Tough map but in the end The Devils pulled off a 11-6 win...our first competitive SnD win for the team. It was a great performance all around.
Thursday, Jan 24th:
This was our TGL tournament match. Our opponent was a very good team from |SoV. But in true TGL fashion, there were issues. Something in the TGL ruleset made PAM freak out on our server. (of course we only got the ruleset the day before the match!) So I had to reinstall PAM as we were supposed to be starting the match. But it installed well and worked well afterwards...after it pissed me off to no end!! MoJo loses this one 11-4 Now, no more TGL!
Friday, Jan 25th:
OGL 5v5 HQ match against our new friends, SoM. We're the only teams on the HQ ladder at OGL...so it was a heated battle for 1st place!! Map was mp_Farm. The Red Devils really did show up to play this game, the first half was almost flawlessy executed.
We played a lot of our normal starters since nobody else was on vent and BigKahuna was doing so good that I instructed him to use pistol only in the second half in an attempt to not make the rest of us look bad. He still wound up with 103 kills and 42 deaths. Yoda was next best at 58-45!!!!! MoJo wins this one 805-225 Great performance!
Sat, Jan 26th
This was the grand finale for a busy week...this match we looked forward to all week. It was for #3 rung at TWL HQ ladder. Our opponent was Virtual Mercs on mp_Strike.
The match started out crazy as they grabbed the first few HQ's as their server lagged everyone so hard we almost just restarted the match.....but it leveled off and was fine after that brief episode.
I don't remember the half time score but The Devils were ahead by around 150after a hard fought battle for one HQ that must have taken 6 minutes to win over. MoJo held strong in attack, never gave up and we eventually prevailed for that HQ.
The second half saw The Red Devils extend their advantage and pull away to a 625 - 200 victory and claiming the #3 spot at TWL HQ ladder.
It was another good week 'Devils...but no time to celebrate, we have more work to do. We're not at #1 in the HQ ladder yet!! But on Friday, we'll have a chance to take it...check the calendar! We also have our first Sabotage lader map this upcoming week. So, another fun and busy week lies ahead for the team.
